PINKs (2 or more players)
a card game of handicap racing

history: i was over at mitch's house several months back and couldnt sleep, so i made up this game. mitch helped a lot while we playtested and simultaneously made rules so he gets credit for the creation too. it plays faster than poker and its about as complicated as rock-paper-scissors.

need one deck for each 2 players, all cards should be shuffled together and used as if they were one deck. remove all face cards. aces count as 1.

shuffle and deal each player 4 cards face down, these cards are called "NOS cards" and they cannot be looked at by anyone until they are used. deal an additional 4 cards, also facedown, to each player for their hand. players then look at their hands and determine how many cards to use for the round. they display this by putting any unused cards to the side, or otherwise indicate to other players how many cards they intend to use. until a player reveals the cards they are going to use, all players may switch the number of cards they intend, so long as they use at least one card. any indecisive players either use what they indicated last, or use one card by default. the unused cards are discarded. each player sums up the cards they used, and the player with the highest sum wins that round. on the following turn, all losing players get a "handicap" to compenstate for how badly they lost. this is represented by taking some card or combinations of cards from the discard pile and placing it faceup in front of the player that lost. the handicap (which is always equal to the number of points they were behind in the last round) is added in the next round just like it had been played normally, except all players know what it is. for each new round, deal each player 4 new cards and start over. the first player to win three rounds wins the game. a game between 2 players may last anywhere from 3 to 5 rounds, a game for 3 players may last anywhere between 3 and 7 rounds. DO NOT shuffle discarded/used cards into the deck at the end of the round, there should be enough cards to finish the game.

TIES = WIN/WIN
in the event of a tie for highest sum, all players tying for highest sum win that round, and the next round none of the players that tied for highest place gets a handicap.

DOUBLES/TRIPPLES/QUADROUPLES
if a player plays two or more cards of the same number (only cards from your hand can be used as doubles/tripples), it forces all other players, excepting that player, to play that many NOS cards. so if one person plays a pair of threes, everyone else must NOT ONLY play the cards they were originally intending to play, but must ALSO must use 2 NOS cards, so although the player will undoubetedly lose this round, the handicap for following round, and the lack of everyone else's NOS cards, will ensure an easy win.

NOS CARDS
after all players have revealed the cards they will play for that round and numbers are added up, but before the round is over, players may chose to use any number of NOS cards. NOS cards are added to that players sum for the round, but they may cause a player to win "too much" that round, giving everyone else handicaps that will be hard to beat on the next round. NOS cards are not replaced after they are used, so you only get 4 of these cards for the whole game. use them wisely.
