the daydream pill:
2004-02-16 - 12:47 p.m.

In reality, these things in your head are never the same as they will happen in reality.

dislike it when those moments of quiet reflection are somewhat...less than quiet. lots of noise in my head today...not much will be accomplished. Especially while trying to see {the meanings of} things with my eyes closed.

Sir#1: What would you give, Sir, to achieve world peace?
Sir#2: Love is the greatest thing, my fellow Sir, the only thing worth fighting for. If by 'peace' you mean love spread thinly all over the world, I believe I would give up anything of my meager self to achieve it.
Sir#1: What if, not just your meager self, but the whole world had to give up something to achieve pure peace?
Sir#2: Obviously, we would be at a loss for that particular thing, but as I've already stated, peace and love in the world are the first priority to anything, at least in my opinion.
Sir#1: A what if that thing everyone in the world had to give up, was their own individuality?
Sir#2: As for that, I really had not fully considered...love is gained from individuality, from the little things in each other that we admire, and that is due in part to the set of things which we are not. So without individuality, love would not be quite the same...although I have a feeling in my heart that love of any sort, for the whole world, is still more important than an old man's musings...
Sir#1: But how would you impress upon others your devotion to a loving, peaceful world? How would you force those who value individuality over love to change those priorities? How much blood would you have to spill in the name of peace?
Sir#2: And in so saying Sir, you imply that bloodshed is somehow evil by nature. Actions are not inherently good or bad. It is the justification for the action which is good or bad (which is to say, it is a necessary or sufficient condition). Similarly, exercising your ability to be an individual is neither good nor bad, but individuality itself is not an action, it is a state, and thereby is able to be categorized as good or bad (sufficient or necessary)...so the two are hard to compare...But if the justification of world peace were good and true and honest and noble, and all that we value, then the action would be universal, it would be worth the death of us all.

Dream. Sitting in a field, trying to forget the grass in order to see the tree that was not originally present. When the tree had become solid, i got up from sitting without moving, reached out and touched it's bark. the feel of flesh wrapped thinly over bone. i looked harder at the tree, and there were dark spots (imagine the black shapes of a birch, where the bark looks torn/damaged), shaped as eyes, that opened up, and the tree saw me. ad retros animus, i think it was supposed to be the Yggdrasil.

I may have stated this before, but one of the tips to surviving life (#1 as I remember) is to keep a well-updated resume and personals ad, for the purposes of self-reflection. Look at what you are and look further down the path to see what you want to be. I will redo the resume soon after I am able to erase the line that informs the reader that I am a college dropout.
Personals Ad. 20yrs, 5'8" 145lbs GASP (green anglo-saxton protostant) looking for a female, 18-22yrs, 4'10"-5'9" with pointy ears to help me chase down the last two unicorns in existence. knowledge of any goblin language, traveling with chopsticks, enjoying picking up things with your toes, natural infravision, and experience with breaking into abandoned buildings or a proficiency with blowguns are all pluses.

Sir#1: *watching a talk show scream* "bleep! bleep-n'-bleep!-bleep bleep! bleep-bleep!" Don't you see, all the words are being bleeped out by the influence of the church on the media!
Sr#2: What a bogus. Not only the church, but the parents of the children who watch these shows, and the general agreement of the society in which we live...
Sir#1: Nono, that's not the point. It's not the Who of who's censoring the viewables on the television, so much as the What that they censor! Eventually, if we all petition and threaten the government enough, we may gain what our constitution promises first and foremost, the right of free speech! Imagine, being able to hear all these words on public television, people talking the way they really talk!
Sir#2: Isee. Except that you basically already understand what they're saying to each other...so it's like watching an old C foreign film (constant setting, bad acting, no plot, in an abscure/dead language), except that you can follow it with ease...
Sir#1:...Oh, yea. *turns the TV off*
Narrator: and so began a conversation concerning just exactly why it is in the best interests of the USgovernment to keep soap operas, really dumb game shows, and talk shows on the air. This portion of the conversation, of course, has been omitted, in respect for the children whom may be watching.
