No school today, America is at war again...a war we lost a long time ago, but we were too stuck-up to admit it. We lost the war of The People (TM), we lost the propaganda of patriotism. And this destruction is little more than a extended front-page news story about how we lost the war. Evidently, those cokehead terrorists get up really early in the morning, to be flying planes around at 9am. �The twin trade towers have been destroyed.� One-hundred-ten floors in each. Really, I don�t think this was a bad target. Fuck the WTC. But the Pentagon, that was a cheap shot. The Pentagon actually has architecture, a structure...which I�ve always admired. Not to mention the deaths of innocent aliens, visiting our planet for the first time. And I�d really pity the people at the White House, if those people would get their asses off the roof, and the tourists weren�t all jumpity and trying to see the capital, regardless. The cell phone system across the US is down, and there aren�t any planes allowed to fly anywhere, unless it�s a military jet or police helicopter...the television has been abducted to show the current news. All of our communication systems, rendered useless by a few misguided planes. Even if they miss the Stock Market (TM) �landing zone�, the stock market is gonna take a plunge. The Stock Market (TM) is run by emotion, and emotion is gonna be a pretty bitter topic for a while. The war has been lost. I could really go fer a coke, do you want one?
Later:
At least one plane was hijacked with cardboard-cutters and plastic kitchen utensils. Several people called from hijacked planes, but no one listened. No one evacuated the buildings until after the first plane had crashed into the World Trade Center...the death toll should have been in the couple-thousands range, instead of the projected eighty-thousands range. I�m hearing about C4 bombs that were found in downtown Boston, and wondering how many times CNN will show the exact same coverage of the Twin Towers being hit by planes and crumbling. Nikki is going home (PA) on Friday, and I really hope the trains aren�t too packed. Another plane at camp David, and still another shot down somewhere else in Pennsylvania. I�m really stuck on the idea that these were American terrorists, by the manner of which they conducted their efforts. Regardless, it has a great deal to do with the fulfillment of a false translation of Nostradamus� prediction about World War III:
�In the City of God there will be a great thunder, two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb...The third big war will begin when the big city is burning...on the 11 day of the 9 month that...two metal birds would crash into two tall statues...in the new city...and the world will end soon after.�
Post Sanctum: I�m really not trying to be an asshole. But it says something about the society in which we live. Egomaniacs that won�t stand up to a terrorist with a plastic knife. And hopefully the rest of America will start realistically thinking about the problems other countries (such as the idea that we cannot hold their government accountable for �harboring� terrorists, because no matter what country you are, you must have some terrorist activity). This is not to say, however, that the organizations that send your donations to starving children in �developing� nations won�t still be pocketing 80% of your money, and this will not even pause American government employees from using their company credit cards to eat out at fancy restaurants.
Post Post Sanctum: I understand the reasons for what Bush is about to do. But that still doesn�t make them reasonable reasons. Imagine Powell, a person that has long stood for racial rights and the equality of all heterosexuals, telling Bush that �we need to blame someone...just pick somebody�. (It should be noted that Mein Kamph was written for this reason: to provide a scapegoat.) So Bush turns to Ashcroft, and gets something like �Mr. President, our economy is dying. When we do hit rock bottom, if we haven�t by tomorrow, we�re going to need a country to take the money from, at gunpoint. Mobilizing our army and winning a quick war will allow us to do just that.� And of course, the baby that we have for a President calls up his daddy to ask what he should do. �When I was your age...we fucked the Germans up the ass so hard...� And so, the directive for action is declared. In a situation like this, it might have been better to have Fidel Castro as our presidente. He knows how to fight wars against terrorists and radicals on an individual basis. Bush and the USA have no idea how to fight this war, and will most likely barge into any country they want and bomb the hell out of it to kill a few �terrorists�. That�s like trying to kill bullwevils with vegetable oil.
At breakfast:

Someone at lunch: �It�s just crazy...plain crazy...is what it is...�
Me: �Hahaha...that�s the best pun I�ve heard all day, �plane� crazy�
Her: �What? Pun, huh?�
Me: �Nevermind.�
I get a feeling that this was not done by Middle-East extremists. This was more likely the �artwork� of the postmodern anarchist movement in America. The number of deaths was relatively low, compared what it could have been...just as in Fight Club, when they made sure that all the targeted buildings were empty. The planes took off with minimum levels of passengers, the terrorists allowed the captives to use cell phones after the hijack, to alert people on the ground. Major buildings were targeted, instead of pizza parlors crowded primarily with women and children. The terrorists had at least some basic training in flying planes. This is not to say that Bin Laden had nothing to do with it; it just wasn�t done in his style. The American people have a long history of being easily influenced; Castro barely needed to say �hello� to Lee Harvey Oswald to get the ex-marine to assassinate his own presidente. But if it had been an international dispute, shouldn�t have a major CIA building been targeted in-addition/instead? This would have sent the message �Hey US! You not big honcho you think you are. You no police of world anymore.� But instead, we got the message �Hey US! I just figured you had a lot of extra money and too much ego. Hopefully this will bring you down a notch, and show you what the rest of the world is like. Have a nice day! *evil smirk*�. The physical attack might have hit Long Island, but the true target of the attacks (in my undereducated opinion) was the morale of the USA. Hit and sunk (assuming there was something to sink in the first place).
This is not the beginning of the end. Columbine and the other school shootings, Ted Kaczynski, the �theft� of the presidency, Oklahoma City, abortion protests; that man who was tied and dragged behind someone else�s jeep for being gay (too many Mad Max movies). These were the beginning, but you didn�t listen. Now that you are listening though, hear this: I can assure you that this is not the end.
